Former members Richard Brass and Chris Westby were forced to leave the band after their white power rants and Hitler samples in the noise project R1st4nce were made public and got the band kicked off festival lineups. From Westby's MySpace at the time, in rerefence to his use of the Nazi slogans “WPWW [white power wordwide]” and “14W [14 words]”: “In a world where the White man is now a minority, especially in his homeland I feel it is totally acceptable and harmless to display my pride.” Despite attempting to distance themselves from such things in the usual “apolitical” manner, the lineup remains very invested in “pride” and “heritage”. In a 2010 interview, drummer Simon Lucas said, “as a group of socially and culturally aware people?we seek to re-kindle?a sense of proud ancestral heritage in our land, our people, our folklore, our stories and our natural landscape. These are important things for a nation” [extracted from the book Faith, folk and the far right (2025) by Dominic Alessio and Robert J. Wallis, Manchester Univeristy Press].
