Immortal are rare in the early Scandinavian scene in that they seemed happier to embrace the Venom-style theatrics of “evil” rather than trying to make people think they lived that life. Fundamentally, the band appear to have never taken themselves too seriously and leader Abbath has continued that approach into the present.
