Leader Neige was involved in Nazi band Peste Noire for the first 10 years of the band's existence. His membership was prior to the band's move towards more explicit white supremacist lyrics, but it's clear he was aware of Ludovic “Famine” Faure's political ideology at the time even if he states he did not share it. Neige has since publicly stated his regret at this past involvement. Neige also played in the band Old Silver Key, performing as a vocalist with Drudkh as a backing band. Drudkh has associations with the Ukrainian far-right. Alcest as a modern entity and Neige more generally are broadly well regarded these days which seems justified.
